After the life of a rubber tree, which is generally 25 years, the latex yields become extremely low making it no longer commercially sustainable. The tree is then cut down so that a new tree can be planted. So, unlike other woods that are cut down for the sole purpose of producing furniture, rubberwood is used only after it completes its latex producing cycle and dies. This wood is therefore an environmental - friendly material because we are now using what was going as waste.
